DISCOVERIES AND HEURISTICS IN ASTRONOMY Abstract: In this paper an analysis of the concept of discovery in astronomy is intended, with special consideration to the main lines of research that are being carried out during this century. Several contexts are explored in this regard, and it is showed that the concept of discovery is involved in different ways in most of them. Taking as a conceptual background the history of astronomy and the philosophy of science, multiple relationships are established among epistemological topics related to our scientific image of the cosmos. Keywords: epistemology; history of science; astronomy; discovery; heuristics.
