From investigation of some possible relationships between the lattice energy, —Uo, of some metals and their physical properties, the newly calculated lattice energy, —Uo, of a transition metal, as obtained from the equation —\(U_o=I X v +S\) has been found to be in better conformity with the physical properties like temperature coefficient of thermal expansion (α), compressibility (β), etc. than that obtained from the conventional procedures.
