Abstract

Octavius extraordinarius sp.n. (Abb. 10, 14, 19) Ty p e n m a t er ia l: Holotypus (♂): NEPAL: Ilam Distr., Mai Pokhari, 2100-2200 m, Castanopsis forest remnants, 9. - 10.IV.1988, Martens & Schawaller (319); 1 ♂- Paratypus: ibidem, 25/27.III. 1980, Martens & Ausobsky (116a) [genitalia in micr. slide]. HT und PT im SMNS. Beschreibung: brachypter, makrophthalm, braun, schwach schimmernd, Vorderkörper grob und sehr dicht, Abdomen fein und ziemlich dicht körnig skulptiert. Fühler, Kiefertaster und Beine gelblichbraun. Länge: 1,5 - 1,9 mm (Vorderkörperlänge: 0,8 - 0,9 mm). PM des HT: HW: 45; DE: 38; LE: 10; TL: 9; GL: 9; PW: 57; PL: 40; EW: 59; EL: 35; SL: 25. Männchen: 8. Sternit (Abb. 14). 9. Sternit (Abb. 10). Aedoeagus (Abb. 19), Medianlobus asymmetrisch, ähnlich einer Schuster-Ahle, Parameren vollständig reduziert. Di f f e r e n t i a l d i a g n o s e: Habituell sieht auch diese neue Art dem O. flavescens zum Verwechseln ähnlich; sie besitzt aber kleinere Augen, ihre Stirn ist vorne breiter verflacht, und die Seitenlinie der Elytren zeigt in der Hinterhälfte eine schmale Einbuchtung, ist also nicht ganz gerade wie bei der verglichenen Art. Der Aedoeagus ist völlig anders als bei O. flavescens und stellt, was die Reduzierung der Parameren angeht, den Extremfall dar. Die Reduzierung der Parameren ist schon bei anderen himalayanischen Gattungsvertretern zu beobachten (PUTHZ 1985), geht dort aber nicht so weit wie bei der neuen Art. Ein gestaltlich ähnlicher Aedoeagus findet sich übrigens bei O. diabolus PUTHZ aus Südafrika (PUTHZ 2006), der aber noch deutliche, wenn auch verkürzte Parameren zeigt. Et y m o l o g i e: Wegen ihres extraordinären Aedoeagus nenne ich die Art „ extraordinarius “ (Lat.= aussergewöhnlich).
