Drosophila (Drosophila) immigrans Sturtevant 1921

Abstract

Drosophila (Drosophila) immigrans Sturtevant, 1921 Drosophila immigrans Sturtevant, 1921: 83. Holotype, male. USA (New York: White Plains) (AMNH). Distribution: Cosmopolitan. Egyptian localities: Coastal Strip: Alexandria (Burla & Bächli 1978; Bächli et al. 1982), Abu Sir (Mourad & Mallah 1960). Dates of collection: March & April (Bächli et al. 1982), August to December (Mourad & Mallah 1960). Remarks: This is an Australasian and Nearctic species, not Palaearctic, so we think it was probably misidentified by Bächli et al. (1982). Unfortunately the specimens of this identification are not available to ensure the identification.
