The economic, social, political, and environmental participation and empowerment are fundamental to strengthen their rights and allowing them to have control over their lives and exert influence in society generating just and equitable societies. The researcher concluded that unless women are empowered and gender equality is achieved, the nation will not achieve sustainable development with the recognition of only mens participation in all potential areas. Hence, this paper calls for the strong onus on the government to empower women and addressing gender-based discrimination and providing specific protections for womens rights to attain secure and sustainable livelihoods after all, human rights are about ensuring dignity, equality, and security for all human beings.
