Abstract

Introduction Location of tumour within the colon is gaining traction as a crucial factor in determining disease progression, prognosis and management. Clinicopathological features, protein / genetic biomarkers, and response to therapy, varies between left (LSCC) and right sided colon cancer (RSCC).[1] However, differences in tumour microenvironment, particularly the distribution and density of extracellular matrix (ECM) has not been studied. We used 2-photon laser scanning microscopy (2PLSM) to visualise label-free components of ECM, so as to depict specific patterns in LSCC and RCSS for subclassification.
