Sulphuryl chloride reacts with pyridine, ß- and γ-picolines, quinoline, isoquinoline and piperidine forming addition compounds having 1 : 2 stoichiometry. Infrared spectra of the adducts reveal the coordination of the tertiary amine through its nitrogen atom to the sulphur atom of sulphuryl chloride.
