A series of NI-heterocyclic substituted naphthalene sulphonamides have been prepared in which the hydrogen atom of the sulphonamido group has been substituted by different nuclei, viz., thiazole, benzothiazole, pyridine and carbazole rings. All the seventeen compounds so prepared were screened for their antibacterial properties and some of these were found to be active 'in vitro' against S. aureus and E. coli.
