Nuevas estrategias en la prevención primaria de la enfermedad cardiovascular

Abstract

Las enfermedades cardiovasculares (ECV) son, sin lugar a duda, una importante causa de morbimortalidad a nivel mundial, siendo posicionadas en el primer lugar sobre enfermedades como la obesidad o la diabetes. Por ende, es evidente la necesidad de su prevención primaria, especialmente durante la actual pandemia de COVID-19. Por estos motivos, es importante revisar y actualizar las estrategias de prevención abarcando cambios en el estilo de vida como la nutrición y la actividad física, las cuales tienen un sinfín de posibilidades y alternativas que van apareciendo día a día y que deben ser estudiadas para esclarecer su eficiencia y seguridad. De igual modo, se deben analizar los diferentes factores y comorbilidades que pueden aumentar el riesgo cardiovascular para poder aplicar una prevención oportuna con tratamientos farmacológicos, siendo algunos aceptados y utilizados hoy en día, y otros siendo controversiales. En consecuencia, se necesita mayor investigación a futuro que permita determinar cuáles son las mejores estrategias para prevenir las ECV y seguir innovando. Por consiguiente, el objetivo de este artículo será revisar cada uno de los factores de riesgo cardiovascular modificables con sus respectivas alternativas, actualizaciones, y métodos terapéuticos innovadores.
