Studies on Aminonitriles. Part I. Preparation and Resolution of α-( o-Carboxyphenylamino) Benzylnitriles

University Department of Chemistry, Saurashtra University, Bhavnagar Manuscript received 19 September 1972; revised 14 May 1973; accepted 17 August 1973 A few (±)-α-.Aminonitriles of the type (±) R-CH.(CN).NH.C6H4COOH(o) (R =substituted phenyl or α-furyl) have been prepared and two of them have been resolved into ( + )· and (-)·isomers. Their specific rotations have been recorded in different solvents.
