Department of Chemistry, Ravenshaw College, Cuttack-3, INDIA. The rates of reaction of a number of nucleophiies with 2, 4-dinitrochlorobenzene and picryl chloride have been measured in methyl alcohol. Relative nucleophilic reactivity parameters, nDNCB and npc, have been computed. The applicability of Bronsted catalysis law and Edwards equation has been discussed. Attempt has been made to correlate the rate constants with amino proton chemical shift.
