Department of Chemistry, Agra College, Agra, India Manuscript received 28 February 1978, revised 26 September 1978, accepted 6 June 1979 Polarographic reduction of bromocresol purple has been studied in Mcllvaine, Kolthoff, Walpole and Britton Robinson buffers using KCI as supporting electrolyte. The is found to be independent of \(p\)H in the range \(p\)H <4 and is shifted to more negative potentials as \(p\)H is increased. A tentative mechanism has been suggested for the electrode process.
