Synthesis of Some Naphtho α-and γ-Pyrones from 2, 7-Dihydroxy Naphthalene

University of Baroda, Baroda Several naphtho α- and \(\gamma\)-pyrone derivatives have been synthesised from 2, 7-dihydroxy naphthalene and its 1-formyl and 1,6-diacetyl derivatives through the application of Perkin, Pechmann, Knoevenagel and Kostaneeki-Robinson acylation reactions and the structures of the products obtained have been established by chemical and spectral methods.
