During the popular uprising in Algeria since 22 February 2019, Algerians have been demonstrating in a persevering manner where each demonstrator is thus led to elaborate and craft relevant slogans to express their demands, their political ideas and/or define their political position. To do this, they draw on their encyclopaedic, historical, philosophical and literary knowledge and their religious, cultural, national, North African and universal beliefs. Especially through the use of quotation, which "allows him/her to get by, because it is nothing but a convention that disavows the law of language: 'To speak is to fall into tautology', 'We only interpose ourselves', []. " (Antoine Compagnon, 1979:19) Based on the study of more than forty slogans, and inspired by Baron Dumitra's approach, this article will provide elements of an answer to the following question: what are the forms and functions of the presence of intertextuality by quotation in the political slogans/revolutionary slogans of Algerians between 2019 and 2020?
