Department of Chemistry, University College of Science, Calcutta-700 009 Manuscript received 13 July 1981, revised 4 February 1982, accepted 23 May 1982 Chemical investigation of \(Launaea\) \(nudicaulis\) yielded \(\beta\)-sitosterol, its acetate and taraxasterol. 13C NMR spectral analyses of taraxasteryl acetate (1b), pseudo-tara­xasteryl acetate (1d) and 3\(\beta\)-hydroxy-30-nor-tarexasteran-20-one (2) were made and the diagnostic features are discussed.
