Daten im Raum - Visualisierungen und Physikalisierungen im Medium Ausstellung

Abstract

In einer Gesellschaft, die in allen Feldern immer größere Datenmengen produziert, gewinnen Visualisierungen an Bedeutung – auch in Ausstellungen und Museen. Bildstatistiken, Zeitstrahlen, Karten oder Graphen ermöglichen die Darstellung komplexer Sachverhalte, die über Objekte allein nicht erzählt werden können. Das Spektrum der Formate in Museen reicht dabei von Informationsgrafiken, über interaktive Visualisierungen auf mobilen oder lokalen Screens, bis hin zu den raumgreifenden Anordnungen der "Datenphysikalisierung", die sich nicht selten in Ausstellungen wiederfinden welche sich vom Originalobjekt ganz verabschiedet haben und Inhalte nur mehr über Informationsdesign erzählen. Gemeinsam mit Kuratorinnen, Informationsdesignerinnen und Kognitionswissenschafterinnen sondiert das Panel den gegenwärtigen Einsatz von Datenphysikalisierungen in unterschiedlichen Museumssparten und fragt, welche Möglichkeiten Ausstellungen haben, mit "Daten im Raum" zu arbeiten. Was sind aktuelle Trends im Feld der Ausstellungsszenographie? Wie ist das Verhältnis zwischen zwei- und dreidimensionalen Visualisierungen? Welche Repräsentationen eignen sich für welche Besucher*innen und wie konsolidieren wir den methodologischen und gestalterischen Diskurs? Ein Beitrag zur 8. Tagung des Verbands "Digital Humanities im deutschsprachigen Raum" - DHd 2022 Kulturen des digitalen Gedächtnisses.
