Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University, Nasr-City, Cairo, Egypt Manuscript received 6 January 1984, accepted 26 May 1984 Various types of sulphonamides derived from 2,5-dichloro- or 2,5-dibromobenzene-sulphonyl chlorides are prepared. Among these are the pyrazoline (IV a-d and X), the isoxazoline (IVe) and the thioxopyrimidine derivatives (Va, b and XI). Secondary amines as thiols add on the sulphonamides (IIa, b) to give (VIa-d and VIIa, b), respectively. Active methylene compounds react with the sulphonamides (IIa, b and III) to give the cyclohexenone derivatives (lXa-d and Xlla, b), respectively. H2O2 on reaction with lIb gives a sulphonamide containing \(\propto\)\(\beta\)-epoxyketone (XV) which react with hydrazines, acetic acid and piperidine to give XVI, XVIIa and XVIIb, respectively. The biological activity of the products against different organisms are discussed.
