Department of Chemistry, Shivaji University, Kolhapur-416 004 Manuscript received 28 November 1983, revised 26 February 1985, accepted 27 April 1985 The hydrolysis of oxalic acid dihydrazide in presence of acid catalyst is a consecutive irreversible reaction. This dihydrazide in various mineral acids is hydrolysed to monohydrazide, which undergoes further hydrolysis to oxalic acid and hydrazine. The reaction follows first order kinetics.
