Department of Chemistry, Nagpur University, Nagpur-440 010 Manuscript received 30 November 1984, revised 11 April 1985, accepted 11 September 1985 Oxine forms molecular adduct complexes with ferrocyanic and ferricyanic acids. Mssbauer spectra of both the complexes are of complex nature. These have been resolved into different sets of lines indicating the possibility of different iron sites. Inter-molecularly hydrogen bonded structures have been proposed. Infrared evidence also supports these conclusions.
