Susanne Andrea Gujer-Bertschingers Studie stellt erstmals alle Dokumente im Zusammenhang mit dem »Fall Hutten« in einen Kontext: Briefe des Opfers - sie gelten als die ältesten Briefe in deutscher Sprache, die aus Amerika geschrieben wurden -, Prozessakten und Reiseberichte. Die Analyse der deutschen, spanischen und italienischen Texte liefert einen genuinen Beitrag zur Forschungsdebatte über (post-)koloniale Studien.
