Department of Chemistry, University of Delhi, Delhi-110 007 Manuscript received 19 February 1982, revised 12 September 1988, accepted 21 February 1984 Dipseudohalidobis(p-biphenyl)tin(IV) compounds of the type(p-C6H5- C6H4).SnX2 (X=NCS—, :Nco—, NCse—, N2—) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements and ir spectroscopic studies. Conductivity data suggest them to be nonelectrolytes in nitrobenzene. IR spectra of the compounds suggest that NCs—, NCO— or NCse— group is N-bonded to tin atom probably forming a bridged hexacoordinated structure in the solid state.
