Chrysodema (Chrysodema) aurostriata Saunders 1866

Abstract

Chrysodema (Chrysodema) aurostriata Saunders, 1866 Chrysodema aurostriata Saunders, 1866: 302. Distribution. China (Yunnan, need verification) and Laos. Host plant. Unknown. Remarks. Frank & Sekerka (2020) examined many specimens and noted this species was known only from the female holotype labelled just as Laos. However, they did not mention the specimen from Yunnan. Kubáň (2006, 2016) mentioned occurrence of C. (C.) aurostriata in Yunnan and the record was followed also by Bellamy (2008). Unfortunately, no formal faunistic record was published. According to V. Kubáň (pers. comm. 2021), it was based on specimens collected by Jing-Ke Li (often as Li Jingke, but Li is the family name), which he had seen personally during his expedition to Laos, where he met Jing-Ke Li. The material from Yunnan looked trustworthy to him as it contained morphotypes of common species typical for that region and hence he included it in the Palaearctic Catalogue. According to him the specimen(s) were certainly smooth and golden-green and thus probably belonged to C. (C.) vrabeci. He did not purchase any voucher specimen from Jing-Ke Li and thus the depository of the material is unknown.
