(G-PREL [G00818109]!). = Ruellia repens Burm. f., Fl. Indica: 235, tab. 67, fig. 2 [err. typ. fig. 1]. 1768 [non R. repens L.]. Lectotypus (designated here by Fumeaux & Callmander): INDONESIA. Java: Kleynhoff s.n. (G-PREL [G00818155]!). Notes. – HOCHREUTINER (1934: 230) transferred Ruellia erecta to Hygrophyla R. Br. and explained that Ruellia repens Burm. f. [non R. repens L.] should be considered as a synonym of H. erecta. Two specimens with the handwriting of Burman f. are present in G-PREL, each of which is designated here as lectotypes: a Kleynhoff collection from Java [G00818155] and a second sheet from an anonymous collector [G00818109], determined by Burman f. as R. erecta. Three collections exist in the Java herbarium annotated by Houttuyn, respectively, as “ Ruellia erecta ” [G00818108], “ Ruellia repens Burm. ” [G00818111], and “ Ruellia ringens L.” [G00818110]. Thunberg collected the latter two, referring both to Hygrophila erecta.
