Department of Chemistry, Nagpur University, Nagpur-440 010 Manuscript received 3 April 1987, revised 21 January 1988, accepted 25 March 1988 Chromium(III) has been determined by differential pulse polarography from a 0.05 M sodium salicylate medium with a minimum determination limit of 0.1 ppm. Although chromium(III) is reduced in two steps yielding two distinct peaks at -0.956 and -1.394 v (vs Ag/ AgCI (satd. KCl) reference electrode), the latter is well suited for its determination. Simultaneous determination of trace amounts of BiIII, PbII aud CrIII in a mixture is also found possible by this procedure.
