3. Cyphomyrmex paniscus Wheeler - Brazil, Sao Paulo State: Caraguatatuba, 12-VII-1965, K. Lenko leg. 1 worker and 1 female (DZSP n. 4095). This is the first record for the species since the types were described from an unknown locality in Brazil; paniscus definitely belongs to the fauna of southeastern Brazil, as has been surmised in my previous revision (Kempf, 1964: 20).
