Mushi 20: 15) All the Taiwanese species of the genus Strumigenys belong to the gode- ffroyi-group in Brown (1959). This spe- cies-group differs from other groups by the following combination of characters: no preocular notch in the ventrolateral margin of head: mandibles slender, sickle- or hook-like at apex, with a pair of spiniform preapical teeth or reduced; apical fork with 2, 3 or 4 spiniform teeth; presence of long projecting fine hairs on the dorsal (outer) surface of the hind tibia and basitarsus; spongiform ap- pendages on propodeum, petiole and post- petiole.
