Diuraphis (Holcaphis) agropyronophaga Zhang, 1991 = Diuraphis (Holcaphis) tritici (Gillette, 1911) Diuraphis tritici was described from North America, and is also recorded from Peru, but possibly originated from East Asia, where it is recorded from China, Tibet and Mongolia. D. agropyronophaga described from China is clearly this species. Zhang et al. (1991) made the interesting observation that it was able to colonise wheat (Triticum sp.) in fields treated with 2,4D herbicide, because this curls wheat leaves and thus provides a suitable microclimate for the aphid.
