Synochoneura dentana Wang & Li, sp. nov. (Figs. 2, 5) Type material: Holotype: ɗ, CHINA: Mt. Fanjing (27º55'N, 108º41'E), Guizhou Province, 1300 m, 2.viii.2001, Houhun Li & Xinpu Wang, genital slide no. WXP03148. Diagnosis. The new species resembles S. ochriclivis (Meyrick) superficially, but differs from it in several features of the male genitalia: the valva is broad and short without a distinctly narrowed neck, and the sacculus is short and weakly sclerotized, not reaching the termination of the costa of valva. It can be distinguished from S. tapaishani (Caradja) by the distal part of valva distinctly contracted, the free termination of sacculus dentate, and the aedeagus stout. Description. Adult (Fig. 2). Wingspan 17.0 mm. Head: Labial palpus slightly longer than diameter of compound eye, outer surface yellowish brown except end of second segment and third segment white. Frons white, vertex with erect, rough white scales. Antenna pale yellowish brown, ciliate. Tegula yellowish brown. Thorax: Dorsum yellowish brown basally, with erect crest of brown scales posteriorly. Legs yellowish white, outside of foreleg, tibiae and tarsi of midleg with gray brown scales. Forewing narrow; costal margin slightly convex from base to middle, then straight; apex short and pointed; termen obliquely straight; tornus broad; upperside ground color pale yellow on upper 1/3, with scattered brown and white scales, brown on lower 2/3; basal fascia large, dark brown; costal margin yellowish brown, tornus golden; cilia yellowish brown at apex, the remainder yellow; underside pale brown. Hindwing upperside, including cilia, gray white, tinged with yellow apically; underside pale. Abdomen: Male genitalia (Fig. 5) with tegumen broad, with large intercalar sclerite between gnathos arm and tegumen. Uncus short and thin, curved, pointed apically, with a few bristles. Socius long, narrowed basally and expanded terminally. Gnathos with slender arms, terminal part broad. Valva broad basally, conspicuously narrowed distally; costa developed. Transtilla broad, narrowed at middle. Sacculus short, narrow, sclerotized, reaching beyond middle; free termination dentate. Juxta broad, rounded, expanded dorsally. Aedeagus stout, gently bent, narrowed distally, blunt apically; vesica with sclerotized fold, cornuti absent. Female unknown. Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin dentatus = dentate, in reference to the form of the free termination of the sacculus. Remarks. The description of the new species is based on a single specimen collected on Mt. Fanjing, Guizhou Province, in 2001, where the two other congeners were found in 2001 and 2002. The male genitalia of the new species demonstrate that it is congeneric with S. tapaishani and S. ochriclivis, and the differences convincingly separate it from the two previously described species.
