Abstract

Pamphagus elephas (Linnaeus, 1758) (Fig. 3 A–D) Gryllus Locusta elephas Linnaeus, 1758, Syst. Nat. 10th ed. 1: 431. Gryllus numidicus Poiret, 1787, Obs. Phys. Hist. Nat. (J. Phys.), 30: 242 (Saussure,1887: 87). Pamphagus virens Thunberg, 1815, Mem. Acad. Sci. Stetersb.5:262 (Stal, 1873: 25). Pamphagus elephas (Linnaeus, 1758); Thunberg, 1815: Mem. Acad. Sci. St-petersb. 5: 262. Pamphagus elephas (Linnaeus, 1758); Dirsh, 1965, Afr. gen. Acrid., ALRC, 99. This species was earlier recorded from Cyrenaica by Zanon (1924). It can easily be identified by its pronotum crest - shaped with high obtuse median carina only, without longitudinal furrow, lateral carinae absent (Dirsh, 1965) Material examined: Ghat Region: Ghat, 3Ψ, on vegetable, 16.v.95. Localities: Cyrenaica: Bengasi, Koefia. Fezzan: Ghat. Distribution: Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Cape Verde. FIGURE 2. A-H. Acinipe expansa (Brunner). A. Female supra-anal plate and cerci; B.
