Size 113/4 in. by 61/4 in.; foll. 299. Twenty-three lines in a page. I.Foll. 1-97. ḲUṬB-ALDÎN’S (d. A.H. 766) Commentary on the Shamsîyah. See no. 503. Copious glosses in the latter portion. II. Foll. 98-162. Jurjânî’s Glosses on the preceding Commentary (see no. 509). Marginal notes. III.Foll. 164-253. A Commentary (ممزوج) on Maḥmûd b. Muḥammad (sic) Jaghmînî’s Compendium of Medicine, قانونچه (see no. 791), by ḤUSAIN B. MUḤAMMAD ASTARÂBÂDÎ, who completed it on Thursday, 17th Ramaḍân, 831, at Harât, and dedicated it to Amîr Murtaḍa. Begins: الحمدلله الذی ابدع العناصر و الاجزاء...اما بعد فقد دلّت البراهین العقلیة و الشواهق (الشواهد .r) النقلیة ان انفس ما یتنفس فیه النفس النفیس الخ. IV. Foll. 254-299. An introduction to Medicine, called مفتاح الطبّ, by ABU’L-FARAJ ‘ALÎ B. AL-ḤUSAIN1 B. HINDÛ, who, according to Ḥ. Kh. vi. 15, iii. 252, died either A.H. 410 or A.H. 420. Begins: قال الاستاد ابوالفرج علی بن الحسن (!) ابن هندو تصفّح اخواننا من المسلمین مقالتی الموسومة بالمشوّقة فی المدخل الی علم الفلسفة فشوّقتهم سهولة الماخذ فیها الی مقالة فی الطب علی نهجها فاسعفتهم بتصنیفها الخ. The work is divided into ten chapters, which are inscribed as follows: فی الحثّ علی تعلم الصناعات عموما و تعلم الطب خصوصا; فی اثبات صناعة الطب; فی حد الطب; فی شرف الطب; فی اقسام الطب; فی فرق الطب; فی ذکر الطرق التی بها استنبط صناعة الطب; فی تعدید ما یجب علی الطبیب معرفته من العلوم لیکون کاملا فی صناعته; فی کیفیة تدریج المتعلم للطب و ذکر مراتب الکتب فیه; فی العبارات والحدود الطبیة. The last chapter, which is the longest, is subdivided into twelve فصول, according to the branches of the medical science. Well written. Dated 14th Muḥarram, 41, apparently A.H. 1141. [Tippu.] 1 Or, al-Ḥasan, as in this MS.
