Department of Chemistry, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur-302 004 Manuscript received 21 August 1980, accepted 22 January 1987 The fragmentation pathways of 5-)6-fluoro-2-(4'-fluorophenyl)indoles, 5-fluoro-2- (4' -fluorophenyI)-3- (N,N-dimethy Iglyoxy lamido)indol e, 5-fluoro -2- (4'-fluorophenyl)-3-(β- morpholinoethyl) indole and 5-fluoro-3-(4'-fluorophenylimino)-1-piperidino-methylindo1-2- one have been studied. Structural assignments have been made for the major fragments, and the pathways leading to their formation have been postulated by the recognition of the appropriate metastable peaks and doubly charged ions.
