Genus Lamellipalpus Maulik Lamellipalpus Maulik, 1921, Proc. Zool. Soc. London: 579 Type species: Eugeusis nigripennis Pascoe, 1887, by original designation (MAULIK, 1921) Head: Very large, interocular space between 2 and 3 times as large as eye diameter (AD). Distance from the eyes to the anterior border of the pronotum mostly large to very large (Fig 1). Head appearing concavely truncated at the base of the antennae, and labrum membraneous and strongly bent ventrally. Furthermore, head depressed or even strongly depressed at least on anterior part, but often also on vertex. Surface shining, covered with fine punctures and very fine and long yellow setae. Mandibles very strong and very long, straight at least along middle part, separated from each other by the head width. Maxillary and labial palpi elongate, 3–4 times as long as broad, with a fine and dense pubescence. Apex of last joint of maxillary palpi mostly broadly rounded but labial palpi narrowly so. Maxillary palpi somewhat shorter than labial palpi, distinctly so in one species (L. bombayensis Maulik). Antennae mostly slender, joints cylindrical, in some species somewhat flattened or distinctly flattened and slightly serrate. Pronotum: Transverse, strongly and deeply depressed posteriorly before angles. Posterior angles with ear-like lobes delimited by an oblique, more-or-less protruding carina. Entire surface shining with small punctures, each with a long and very fine yellow seta. Scutellum broad, triangular. Elytra: With 3 more-or-less distinct costae, punctured. Punctures sometimes very large and strongly impressed, individually visible even if close together, or superficial and no longer visible individually, giving the elytra a generally rough structure. Pubescence dense; setae short, very fine and brown. Elytral margins narrowly and superficially bordered in some species, strongly bordered in other species. Underside: Finely and densely pubescent. Aedeagus: lateral lobes narrow, rounded, and with a few setae posteriorly, ending in a sharp point dorsally. Median lobe sharpened dorsally (Fig. 2).
