Platypleura octoguttata (Fabricius, 1798) [Tettigonia] 8-guttata Fabricius 1798: 515. Oxypleura sanguiflua Walker 1850: 24. Type locality. Incorrectly attributed to French Guiana. Specimens were collected from within and in the outskirts of Karachi (May to Sep 2005, 2006). Distant (1889, 1906a) also reported that the species was collected in Karachi. Butler (1874) reported specimens from Wuzeerabad (sic), Punjab and Distant (1889) from Wazeerabad (sic), Panjab which are currently Wazirabad, Punjab. The species was captured from Acacia spp. in large numbers. Remarks. The species was previously known from India and Sri Lanka (Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985).
