Tapiena stridulous Liu and Kang sp. n. (Figs. 2 e–f, 6a, d–i) Type material. Holotype: male, China: Hainan Island: Tongza, Coll. Li Pingfu (IZAS); Paratype, 1 female, same data as in Holotype (IZAS); 2 males, at light, Baisha, Yinggeling National nature reserve, 2005. VIII.27– IX.12, Coll. Liu Chunxiang (IZAS). Description. Male (holotype). Stridulatory file on underside of left tegmen with about 240 fine teeth (Fig. 6a). In dorsal view, tenth abdominal tergum extending, dorsal surface with a longitudinal furrow, basal half semicircular, middle part bacilliform, apical part gradually widened, apical margin with a triangular concavity (Fig. 6 g); in lateral view lateral margin arcuate, extending backwards into a sharp spine, which directing ventrad (Fig. 6 f). Subgenital plate with base widest, gradually narrowed, apical margin with a large triangular notch, longer than two thirds length of subgenital plate; styli slender, as long as two thirds length of subgenital plate (Fig. 6 i). Female. Tenth abdominal tergum, epiproct, cerci, and ovipositor similar to other congener. Ovipositor with lateral surface approximately smooth, dorsal margin crenulated thoroughly and not obliquely truncated, and ventral margin in distal fifth part crenulated (Fig. 6d). Subgenital plate triangular on the whole, with lateral margins slightly convex, and apical margin obtuse (Fig. 6 e). Coloration. Green. Each lateral margin of anterior femur with two elongate rows of dark brown dots. Dorsal surface above tympana on anterior tibiae with dark brown spots. Measurements (mm). Length of body: male 24.0, female 25.0; length of pronotum: male 5.5, female 5.5; length of tegmen: male 32.5, female 37.0; largest width of tegmen: male 8.0, female 9.5; length of hind wing: male 37.0, female 37.0; length of posterior femur: male 16.0, female 16.0; length of ovipositor: 9.0. Comparison. Tapiena stridulous resmbles T. hainanensis Liu & Xia on the whole, but differs by the much smaller size, the structure of stridulatory apparatus, and the male cerci. Distribution. China (Hainan Island).
