Abstract

Metalimnobia (Metalimnobia) impubis sp. nov. (Figs. 4, 20–23) Diagnosis. Femora brown with two black rings, first indistinct, at 4/5 length of femora, second at tip, narrower than subapical yellow ring. Two small spots between base of cell R and origin of Rs. Terminal section of R1 bent to wing margin in right angle. Paramere with stem slightly sinuous, gradually narrowing to tip, inner apical margin rounded and impubis .. Description. Male. Body length 10.5–14.0 mm, wing 12.5–16.5 mm. Head. Black with pale gray pollen, except postgena and dorsal surface of rostrum blackish brown. One small median tubercle between eyes. Hairs on head black. Antenna 1.8–2.3 mm. Scape and pedicel brown, flagellomeres black, suboval to subcylindrical, apical segments elongate, verticils considerably longer than segments. Proboscis and palpus black with black hairs. Thorax. General brownish yellow with pale gray pollen. Pronotum brown. Prescutum brownish yellow with four black stripes, median pair long and slender, lateral pair short and broad. Scutum brownish yellow except lobes black. Scutellum brownish yellow. Mediotergite pale brownish yellow except lateral margin yellowish brown. Pleura brownish yellow except anepisternum brown. Hairs on thorax brown. Coxae brownish yellow; trochanters brownish yellow with inner tips black; femora brown with two black rings, first indistinct, at 4/5 length of femora, second at tip, narrower than subapical yellow ring; tibiae yellowish brown with tip brown; tarsi brown. Hairs on legs black. Wing (Fig. 4) brownish hyaline, with dark brown spots at base of cell R, origin and fork of Rs and each side of stigma, two small spots between base of cell R and origin of Rs; seams along crossveins r-m, m-m, mcu and basal sections of cells M1+2 and M3; obscure brownish irregular clouds in all marginal cells, arranged in transverse band before apex of wing; stigma yellowish. Sc1 longer than Sc2, terminal section of R1 bent to wing margin in right angle, m-cu before fork of M. Halter 1.7–2.0 mm long, brownish yellow except knob black. Abdomen. Tergites 1–5 yellowish brown, tergites 6–8 black with posterior margin yellowish brown, tergite 9 yellowish brown with median area black. Sternites 1–5 brownish yellow, sternites 6–8 black, sternite 9 yellowish brown. Hairs on abdomen black. Hypopygium (Figs. 20–23). Posterior margin of tergite 9 (Fig. 20) emarginate, each lobe with several hairs. Gonocoxite with broad ventromesal lobe. Outer gonostylus (Fig. 21) slender and arched, constantly narrowing to apex. Inner gonostylus (Fig. 21) divided into three lobes, innermost lobe long and slender, with short hairs at inner margin; dorsal fleshy lobe subteres with long hairs; ventral fleshy lobe subglobular with long hairs. Paramere (Fig. 22) with stem slightly sinuous, gradually narrowing to tip, inner apical margin rounded and impubis. Female: Body length 13.0– 13.9 mm, wing 14.0–15.0 mm. Similar to male. Type material. Holotype male, Beijing: Mentougou, Xiaolongmen (1080 m), 39°57΄57ʺN 115°28΄32ʺE, 2005. VII. 14, Yanling Xu. Paratypes: 2 males, 1 female, same data as holotype; 1 male, Beijing: Mentougou, Longmenjian (750 m), 40°00΄32ʺN 115°34΄22ʺE, 2005. VII. 6, Hui Dong. 2 males, 1 female, Beijing: Mentougou, Xiaolongmen (1080 m), 39°57΄57ʺN 115°28΄32ʺE, 2005. VIII. 15, Hui Dong. 2 males, Hubei: Shennongjia, Dayanwu (1700 m), 31°47΄43ʺN 110°30΄15ʺE, 1984. VI. 29, Jikun Yang. Distribution. China (Hubei, Beijing). Etymology. The specific name refers to the impubis inner apical margin of the paramere. Remarks. This new species is somewhat similar to M. zetterstedti (Tjeder, 1968) in having the similar patterning of the wing and similar shape of the paramere, but it can be separated from the latter by the inner apical margin of the paramere impubis. In M. zetterstedti, the inner apical margin of the paramere has a fringe of setulae.
