Abstract

Taperus fasciatus Li & Wang (Figs 2, 7, 12, 17, 26–30, 46–49, 51) Taperus fasciatus Li & Wang, 1994: 374; 1996: 117 Measurements. ɗ: body length: 6.0– 6.2 mm; head width (incl. eyes): 1.1–1.2 mm; head length: 0.7–0.8 mm. Ψ: body length: 6.3–6.5 mm; head width (incl. eyes): 1.1–1.2 mm; head length: 0.7–0.8 mm. Vertex, pronotum and scutellum (Figs 2, 17) dark brown; pale median longitudinal band yellow, extending from apex of vertex to posterior margin of pronotum. Face (Fig. 12) nearly white. Forewing (Fig. 51) nearly black, with pale patch in fourth apical cell. Male pygofer (Fig. 26) broad at base, distal third narrowed posteriorly, with dense short macrosetae on apex. Apex of footlike apical process of style very long and slender, longer than one third length of style (Fig. 29). Aedeagal shaft (Figs 27–28) with triangular posteroventral process; large lateral process lamellate, with dorsal margin truncate in lateral view. Material examined. Vietnam; China (Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Hunan, Guizhou, Zhejiang, Jiangxi). Remarks. This species, the type species of Taperus, is redescribed here with its habitus and genitalia of both male and female photographed in detail for the first time. It resembles T. bannaensis sp. n. externally and in having the similar aedeagus and style, but can be distinguished from the latter by the shape of apex of the male pygofer and the truncate dorsal margin of the lateral lamellate process of the aedeagus in lateral view.
