Abstract

14. Epyris breviclypeatus Lim et S. Lee, sp. nov. (Figs 140–147) Type material. Holotype Ƥ, Korea: Yangji-ri, Onam-myeon, Namyangju-si, GG, 5.V.2007, Sweeping, T. Han leg. Paratype: Ƥ, Mureung valley, Samhwa-dong, Donghae-si, GW, 37°27'52''N, 129°91'26''E, 20–25.IV.2007, MT, J. Lee leg. Diagnosis. This species is similar to E. fujianensis Xu, He et Ma 2003 by having similar body color; head slightly longer than wide with parallel lateral margin; fore wing with short metacarpus; propodeal disc with median and pair of submedian carinae. However, this new species has antennal sockets developed anteriorly in dorsal view; pronotum with round anterolateral margin; submedian discal carinae reaching posterior carina; whereas E. fujianensis has antennal sockets not developed; pronotum with obtuse anterolateral margin; submedian discal carinae reaching reaching 0.7 × of disc length. Description. FEMALE (holotype). Body length 5.8 mm (Fig. 140); LFW 3.2 mm (Fig. 144). Color. Body black; mandible dark castaneous; antenna dark castaneous except basal four fifths of scape black; fore wing subhyaline, veins castaneous; legs dark castaneous. Head (Figs 141, 143, 146). 1.2 × as long as wide. Vertex slightly convex with rounded corners. Temple profile divergent anterad. Frons weakly coriaceous, punctures somewhat deep and strong, separated from each other by 1.0–3.0 × as its maximum diameter (Fig. 142). Mandible with single apical tooth. Clypeus with rounded median lobe. Frons with linear impression (Fig. 146). First five antennal segments in ratio of 4.3: 1.0: 1.3: 1.3: 1.4 in length; from scape to flagellomere 3 and 11 2.7, 0.9, 1.3, 1.0, 1.1 and 2.2 × as long as wide respectively (Fig. 141). Eye 0.39 mm long with erect hairs. HE 0.8 × OOL; WF 3.0 × WOT. Frontal angle of ocellar triangle obtuse, POL 1.5 × AOL, OOL 2.1 × WOT (Fig. 143). Mesosoma (Figs 142, 144, 145). Pronotum coriaceous and punctate as head, 0.8 × as long as wide, anterior corners forming round angle, posterior margin concave in dorsal view. Mesoscutum coriaceous, punctate, punctures smaller than those of head. Notauli divergent apically. Parapsidal furrows subparallel. Scutellar disc coriaceous and punctate as head and pronotum, scutellar pit oval, each pit separated from each other by 1.8 × as its maximum diameter (Fig. 142). Propodeal disc polished, 0.9 × as long as wide with lateral margin parallel and posterior margin straight in dorsal view; three discal carinae present, sublateral carina absent, median discal carina reaching posterior carina distinctly, submedian discal carinae reaching posterior carina weakly, basal half of carinae parallel and distal half convergent slightly, median area with rugulose, sublateral area with strigate and fine rugulose; propodeal declivity coriaceous with median longitudinal carina (Fig. 145), lateral of propodeum coriaceous. Fore wing with short metacarpus, 0.3 × as long as pterostigma; transverse-median vein strongly convex posteriorly (Fig. 144). Metasoma (Fig. 147). Petiolate and polished. Each tergum with anterior two thirds with fine punctures, distal one third smooth without distinct punctures. MALE. Unknown. Distribution. Korea (GG, GW). Etymology. The specific name refers to the short clypeus.
