Abstract

Nesoclutha phryne (Kirkaldy) new record for China (Fig. 1 L) Nesosteles phryne Kirkaldy, 1907: 66 Eusceloscopus pallidus Evans 1942: 147 Nesoclutha obscura Evans, 1947: 126, fig.1, a–c, synonymised by Evans, 1966: 252 Nesoclutha pallida, Evans, 1966: 252; Knight, 1975: 198, figs16–17; synonymised by Day & Fletcher, 1994: 1220 (see checklist remarks) Description. Body pale brown. Male genitalia. Aedeagus shaft short and broad, without process, dorsal margin sinuate in lateral view, ventral margin slightly concave at midlength; tapering to acute apex, distinctly slender over apical part (Fig. 1 L). Measurement. Length (including tegmen). Male: 2.7–3.3mm; Female: 2.8–3.3mm. Material examined. China: 1 ɗ, 1 Ψ, Fujian Prov., Zhangpu County, Qianzhai Township, 17.viii.2005, Coll. Yang Meixia; 1 Ψ, Jiangxi Prov., Nanchang, Mt. Mei, 60m, 8.vii.1979, Coll. Lin Yujian, host: Sesame (JAU); 1 ɗ, Hubei Prov., Fang County, Jundian Township, 30.vii.2001, Coll. He Zhiqing; 3 Ψ, Guangdong Prov., Shenzhen City, vii.1986, Coll. Zhang Yalin; 2 ɗ, Sichuan Prov., Mianning County, 1600m, 5.xi.1999, Coll. Qin Daozheng; 19 ɗ, 31 Ψ, Yunnan Prov., Yuanmou County, Laocheng Township, 9.viii.2005, Coll. Yang Meixia (NWAFU, BMNH). Remarks. This species has the dorsal margin of the aedeagal shaft sinuate in lateral view and more slender in its apical part compared to N. erythrophala and N. concavipenis (Fig. 1 H, K, L).
