Griffiniana pedestris Karny, 1910 (Figs. 3 C–G) Karny 1910: 50 >> Griffiniana pedestris Naskrecki 1994: 295 >> Griffiniana pedestris Type locality. Namibia [“King-Bushmannld.”], Lübbert S.V.—female holotype (ZMHB) Diagnostic description (female, male unknown). General characteristics as for the genus. Squamipterous, tegmina shorter than pronotum, not overlapping, approximately circular in shape (Figs. 3 C–D); hind wing vestigial but still present. Fore and mid femora with 5–6 anterior ventral margin only; hind femur with 5–7 teeth on both ventral margins. Subgenital plate with widely angular incision (Fig. 3 G); ratio ovipositor/hind femur 0.57–0.60 Measurements (2 females). Body: 22–23; pronotum: 3.5–4; tegmen: 2; hind femur: 20–21; ovipositor: 12 mm. Material examined (2 specimens). Namibia: Kung Buschmannland—coll. S.V. Lubbert— 1 female (holotype) (ZMHB); Windhoek Distr., Windhoek, 2217 Ca, (22°30'S, 17°0'0''E), 1–30.iv.1976 — 1 female (NMNW). Remarks. Only two female specimens of this species are known, but it is likely that the males of G. pedestris possess shortened tegmina with fully developed stridulatory organs. Nothing is known about the biology of this species but, based on the collecting localities of the specimens examined, it is certainly associated with xeric, sparsely vegetated habitats.
