Abstract

Catatropis hatcheri Flores & Brugni, 2006 Hosts. Gallus gallus domesticus Linnaeus (Aves: Phasianidae) and Anas sp. (Aves: Anatidae) (experimental), Anas platyrhynchos L. (Aves: Anatidae) (natural). Site of infection. Distal region of caeca. Type locality. Argentina, Rio Negro Province, Lago Nahuel Huapí (40º48’S, 71º39’W). Paratypes: MLP 5447, MLP 5448 (4 specimens from G. g. domesticus); MLP 5446 (4 specimens from Anas sp); MLP 5445 (1 natural specimen from A. platyrhynchos). Remarks. Holotype in the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales Bernardino Rivadavia, Buenos Aires, Argentina, paratypes in Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales Bernardino Rivadavia (9 specimens), in the Colección Parasitológica del Centro Regional Universitario Bariloche, Universidad Nacional del Comahue, San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina (26 specimens) and in the British Museum (Natural History) Collection at the Natural History Museum, London, UK (6 specimens).
