Erythria euryprojecta Kang & Zhang, 2012, sp. nov.

Abstract

Erythria euryprojecta sp. nov. (Figs. 3, 6, 9, 23–30) Body dark brown. Pair of round brown patches at sides of coronal suture and big brown bell-shaped patch on pronotum, scutum with three brownish-black patches, scutellum with a brownish-black ringlike patch (Fig. 3). Fore wing sandy beige with veins lighter and with two dark brown spots near middle section of costal or lateral margin, hind wing sandy beige with veins brown. Male genitalia: Pygofer broad with sclerotized appendage at its hind upper angle (Fig. 25). Lateral margin of subgenital plate folded dorsad at midlength with apex rounded (Fig. 26). Apical extension of paramere straight, tapered (Fig. 27). Penis stem with sculpture on its ventral side subapically, broad apodeme and two apical processes lamellate subapically (Figs. 29, 30). Gonopore apical. Measurements: Male 3.2–3.4 mm (including wing); Female 3.2–3.5 mm (including wing). Material examined: Holotype 3, Sichuan Prov., Gonggashan, 2400m, 5 November 1999, coll. Dworakowska; Paratype: 3Ƥ, Sichuan Prov., Gonggashan, 2400 m, 5 November 1999, coll. Dworakowska; 1Ƥ, Sichuan Prov., Moxi, 2000 m, 5 November 1999, coll. Dworakowska. Remarks: The new species resembles E. rudobreva (Dworakowska 1993: 152, 153, 165) but differs in its extension at the hind upper angle of the pygofer and long sclerotized appendage, and by the longer apical penis appendages and bigger apodeme. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin words “ eury- ” and “ projectus ”, referring to the broad end of the apical penis appendages.
