Phasianidae

Authors: Iorio, Osvaldo Di; Turienzo, Paola;
Abstract

PHASIANIDAE Gallus gallus (Linnaeus, 1758) HEMIPTERA: Reduviidae Triatoma infestans Klug in Meigen, 1834 ARGENTINA: Chaco: Lote 14, between San Bernardo and Villa Berthet, II-1980, Di Iorio leg., 2 n III, 146 n IV+V, 294 adults [DIOC], in one chicken house of piled bricks and metal roof. Triatoma patagonica Del Ponte, 1929 ARGENTINA: Córdoba: Cruz del Eje, 5-XII-1969, ex Col. A. Martínez, 10 exx. [DIOC], in chicken house; San Luis: [without locality], 5-II-1969, Hernández leg., ex Col. A. Martínez, 3 exx. [DIOC], in chicken house. Note: Original records prior to Abalos & Wygodzinsky (1956) were not found in literature (see Di Iorio & Turienzo 2011a), but these specimens in the Col. Martínez probably are related to the mention of T. patagonica in chicken coops made by Martínez & Cichero (1972), Martínez et al. (1985) and Carcavallo et al. (1988), whose localities were not mentioned.

Published as part of Iorio, Osvaldo Di & Turienzo, Paola, 2012, Addenda to the insects found in birds' nests from the Neotropical Region and Neotropical immigrants in the Nearctic Region, with a discussion of the probable transmission mechanism of Ornithocoris toledoi (Hemiptera: Cimicidae), pp. 1-17 in Zootaxa 3349 on page 5, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.211000
