Galissus Dupont, 1840 Galissus Dupont, 1840: 1; Thomson, 1864: 207; 1865: 434; Lacordaire, 1869: 186; Zajciw, 1960: 74; 1969: 114; Monné & Martins, 1981: 187; Monné, 2005: 610 (cat.); Martins, Galileo & Ramirez Campos, 2012: 198 (key spp). Type-species: Galissus cyanopterus Dupont, 1840 (monotypy). Panchylissus Waterhouse, 1880: 294; Lane, 1978: 75; Monné, 2005: 626 (cat.). syn. nov. Type-species: Panchylissus cyaneipennis Waterhouse, 1880 (monotypy). The only difference between Galissus cyanopterus Dupont and Panchylissus cyaneipennis Waterhouse, both typespecies, is the density of hairs in the metatibiae, which are densely piloses in G. cyanopterus and with sparse hairs in G. a z u re u s Monné & Martins, 1981, P. cyaneipennis and P. nigriventris Lane, 1965. The density of the pilosity is an insufficient character to consider Galissus as a different genus of Panchylissus and we herein propose the synonymy of Panchylissus with Galissus.
