Acailandica maja, sp. n. Figs 3, 8 Diagnosis. In facies, A. maja is similar to A. acailandiae but differs from it in having a darker brown head and thorax, a dirty orange ventral side of the thorax, and a different arrangement of the forewing blotches (Figs. 7, 8). Acailandica maja differs from A. subtilana chiefly in having a brown thorax and broad markings of the tornal area of the forewing, and lacking a fascia from beneath the forewing apex. Description. Head: Dark brown. Thorax: Dark brown with trace of orange suffusion medially and dirty orange on ventral side. Wing span 14 mm. Forewing (Fig. 8) expanding terminally; costa weakly bent subterminally; termen slightly depressed beneath apex; ground colour yellow orange; costal strigulae pale orange, white at wing edge; divisions brown; markings brown as follows: basal blotch incised posteriorly, separating costal area; median fascia preserved in costal half of wing; two larger and several small brown spots from middle to tornus, dorsoterminal marking broad, medio-subterminal marking parallel to medioterminal blotch, slender mark of ground colour separating latter from apex edge. Cilia grey, tinged orange. Hindwing yellow orange with broad, dark brown band around perimeter from anal area to apex. Cilia grey, tinted orange. Abdomen: Male unknown. Female genitalia (Fig. 3) as described for the genus. Holotype female: " Brasil: Pará, Belem, 20 m, I.1984, V. O. Becker, Col., Col. Becker 47176"; GS 674 WZ. Etymology. The name refers to the size of the moths, from Latin major - larger.
