Abstract

Pristomerus callitrinus n. sp. Figures 8, 26 Etymology. This species has been reared from female cones of coniferous trees of the Australian genus Callitris, and is named after its plant associate. Description. Fore wing length 4.8–5.4 mm (holotype: 5.4 mm). Antenna with 31–33 (33) flagellomeres. Mesoscutum with more or less even, dense punctuation, in the female partly, in the male strongly coriaceous inbetween. Scutellum with obvious punctures, smooth in-between. Mesopleuron with strong and rather dense punctures, smooth in-between; below subtegular ridge with parallel, diagonal carinulae. Metapleuron with juxacoxal carina indicated by some rugae, but not complete. Propodeal areas smooth with strong punctures. Hind coxa coriaceous and matt, with weak punctures. Hind femur length to width ratio 3.5 in male and 4.2–4.3 (4.3) in female, ventrally with a small tooth at most half as long as width of hind tibia at mid length. Hind tibia 1.8–2.0 mm. Second tergite 2.4–2.7 × longer than wide at base, covered with longitudinal carinulae. Ovipositor 1.85–1.9 (1.85) × as long as hind tibia. Colouration. Antenna basally orange, remainder brown or black. Face black or dark brown with orange inner eye margins and orange or yellow malar space. Clypeus orange. Back of head black or dark brown. Mesosoma including propodeum black or dark brown, with hind corner of pronotum yellow. Hind femur orange, with apex yellow. Hind tibia orange with apex darkened. Fore wing somewhat infuscate. Metasoma orange, tergites with light apex and tergite 2 often darkened at base. . Notes. Host unknown, no host remains with specimens. Material examined. Holotype ♀: Label data: '35.15S 148.59E ACT; Shepherds Lookout; nr Sewerage Works; emg. 22–31 Oct. 1992; W. Dressler' / 'ex female cones; of Callitris; (Fieldnote 92/5 of I.D.Naumann)'; at ANIC. Paratypes: same data as holotype: 1 Ƌ, at ANIC. Same data, but emerged xi.1992; 1 ♀, at BMNH.
