Subfamily: Tetriginae Ramber, 1838 The subfamily is characterized by the lack of clear synapomorphies. The major characters that define this paraphyletic group include: (i) filiform antennae with 12-14 segments, (ii) frons not produced forwards, (iii) lateral paranotal projections (triangularly shaped) directed downwards and not produced in spines/teeth, (iv) dorsal margin of mid femora carinate, not sulcate and (v) scutellum usually not very wide (however, exceptions exist).
