Abstract

Contacyphon thomasi (Pic, 1914) (Fig. 12C) Cyphon suturalis Broun 1883: 370. Broun 1886: 779 (reprinted excerpt of Broun 1883). Cyphon thomasi Pic 1914: 35. Nyholm 2000: 53 (aedeagus illustrated). Macfarlane et al. 2011: 420 (catalogue). Contacyphon thomasi: Zwick et al. 2013: 347. Type locality. Waitakerei [sic, Waitakere] Hills. Broun number: 1386. Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “Holo- \ type” [round label with red border], “1386.” [in Broun’s hand], “Waitakerei. \ Novr 1910.“ [in Broun’s hand], New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “ Cyphon \ suturalis ” [in Broun’s hand], “Holotype \ Cyphon suturalis \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand]. Remarks. Broun examined a single specimen collected from the Waitakerei Hills (Broun 1883). Pic (1914) proposed a new substitute name for Cyphon suturalis Broun, a homonym of Cyphon suturalis Tournier, 1868.
