Abstract

Contacyphon pictulus (Sharp, 1878) (Fig. 11F) Cyphon pictulus Sharp 1878: 55. Broun 1880: 322 (reprinted excerpt of Sharp 1878). Pic 1914: 34 (catalogue). Macfarlane et al. 2011: 420 (catalogue). Contacyphon pictulus: Zwick et al. 2013: 345. Type locality. Otago. Broun number: 585. Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (NHM): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “ Cyphon pictulus \ Type D. S.” [written at base of card in Sharp’s hand], “C. pic- \ tulus” [handwritten on genitalia slide], “Holo- \ type ” [round label with red border], “ Type \ H. T.” [round label with red border], “ Otago, [red underline] \ New Zeal. \ (Hutton)”, “ Otago Hutton” [handwritten], “Sharp Coll \ 1905-313.”, “ Holotype \ Cyphon pictulus \ Sharp \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand]. Remarks. A single specimen collected by Hutton at Otago was sent to Sharp (Sharp 1878).
