El arte de innovar. Naturalezas, lenguajes, sociedades

Abstract

El uso del término innovación se extiende en nuestra época. Es frecuente encontrar cotidianamente referencias sobre lo innovador en ámbitos diversos, en los que se recurre a esta palabra como fetiche o comodín. Los medios masivos de información reproducen un significado asociado con la novedad y ligado a su necesidad de mostrar hechos actuales de interés para audiencias ávidas de lo que está en pleno auge. Los representantes políticos y los empresarios presentan la innovación como solución a múltiples problemas actuales y apuesta de crecimiento económico. Así, se observan usos ambiguos y polisémicos de este concepto, lo que ha llevado a que sea sobrevalorado o subestimado. En la academia tampoco hay grandes acuerdos, porque las tradiciones que lo estudian son relativamente recientes y los abordajes se han limitado a analizar las dimensiones económicas y tecnológicas de las sociedades contemporáneas. La valoración positiva de la innovación resalta como común denominador entre los usos diversos del término, que la presentan como un horizonte deseable. Este buenismo subyacente a una consideración normativa de la innovación es el que advierte Javier Echeverría en el libro El arte de innovar. Naturalezas, lenguajes, sociedades.
