Wohlfahrtia villeneuvi Salem, 1938 (Figs 4, 6L) Wohlfahrtia villeneuvi Salem, 1938: 71. Algeria, Hoggar [“ Sahara Ahaggar Mountains ”]; Egypt, Wadi Hôf; Egypt, Wadi el Rishrash. Wohlfahrtia musiva Séguy, 1953: 70, syn. nov. Mauritania, Fderîck [“Fort Gouraud”]. Wohlfahrtia villeneuvei: Verves (1985: 339; 1986: 121), incorrect subsequent spelling of Wohlfahrtia villeneuvi Salem, 1938. Distribution. Palaearctic—Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Libya, Turkmenistan; Afrotropical—Chad, Mauritania. Remarks. The nominal taXon Wohlfahrtia musiva Séguy, 1953 had not been revised since its proposal. Séguy’s (1953) original description contains no illustration, and the only description of the male terminalia is a statement that the cercus is straight and reddish brown (“Forceps épais, d’un brun rougeâtre”, p. 71). The original description provided by Séguy (1953) is of the male seX only, but it does not provide information as to whether one or more specimens were eXamined. We have recovered and eXamined a single male deposited in MNHN (Fig. 4), which evidently represents original type material, and we herewith designate this specimen as lectotype with the type locality restricted accordingly. The specimen has been identified by us as Wohlfahrtia villeneuvi. The lectotype is labelled (top to bottom) “ MAURITANIE / FORT—GOURAUD / BERLAND XI—1948 [black print] // TYPE [black print on red label] // Wohlfahrtia / musiva / TYPE Seguy [blue handwriting]” (Fig. 4G).
